Daedalus and its disobedient son, Icarus

Hy, my names is Icarus. My father, Daedalus was a great inventor and builder, but he was a slave. So my father invented two pairs of wings made up of wax and string so he and I, his son, could escape from the palace of Knossos in Crete and from the Labyrinth my father had build for Minos, the king of Crete. He told me not to fly to close too the sun because the wax would melt and I would fall. But I didn’t pay attention because I felt to good to flew alone with no help. I flew near the sun and fell to the sea and drown to death.

Sisyphus, the autobiography

Hello, I’m Sisyphus, son of Aeolus and Enarete. I was the founder and the king of the city of Corinth. I liked to be evil and bad with all people, when Thanatos, the god of death came for me to take me to the underworld I refused, I even started to tell secrets about the gods. Hades discovered me and got very mad at me, he gave me a punishment. What I had to do was to roll a huge rock uphill, and then when I reached the top, look at it rolling down again, I had to keep doing this for all eternity.

Greek Architecture

The greeks houses passed through many stages. first they where small with wooden walls. then they start building them bigger with stone walls. Then they build paved roads, bridges and dams. Then they pass to temples for gods.

They have three main columns. The Doric, Ionic and the Corinthian.

The rich and pour people houses where very different. Both where constructed with mud bricks ans stone, but the main difference was that rich people house was bigger, with more rooms and had a courtyard in the middle of the house.

The first structures where very simple they where mostly circular and rectangular shaped. They used mud bricks and they only had one room, very rarely two rooms.

Some of the common materials of Greek architecture where wood, and baked bricks, limestone and marble, terracotta, and metals. Specially bronze.
